Answer : This observation is important because it showcases one aspect of Tris’s divergence. It is very “erudite” to think of why things are done a certain way instead of just accepting it. This observation also shows that she is beginning to question the factions and what is really being hidden from them.

Answer : This detail is significant to the text because it brings about the idea that the dangerous thing they need protecting from isn’t outside of their walls, but within their society.

Answer : This leads us to understand that even though dystopias are supposed to be better societies, the citizens are being controlled by certain beliefs that they are taught not to question. Everyone just accepts that things are a certain way and that that way is best.
