3. This article starts by introducing that the author is a dystopian literature teacher who explains the challenges of teaching to "the consumer class." She continues to say that the consumerism and materialism of the world is shifting peoples goals from aquiring skills and knowledge to aquiring things. The article then touches on the topic of instant gratification in todays world and how it strengthens the herd mentality and more materialism. The last point and most dystopian is her interpretation of reliance on technology as well as the quickly deminishing linguistic skills of the world.

4. This speaks to answer my inquiry question because it shows several real life ways in which consumerism can lead to dystopian societal qualities.
