3. In this article, Charlotte Matless is taking various dystopian novels and adding a psychological analysis of the characters in the novels. She draws a parallel between the regressive environment of the dystopia in which they live and their regressions as humans. Drawing from specific studies of Freud, Matless shows how an unhealthy dystopian environment can cause its characters to revert to primal behaviors such as cannibalism and extreme violence. She also uses Freud’s psychology to demonstrate how it could be said that the characters are reverting to previous stages of development such as infancy because of suppression found in dystopia. Matless argues that this regression found in dystopian novels actually reflects the world that the authors live in also.   
4. This speaks to the issue my inquiry question explores because it is based on psychoanalysis of characters within dystopian novels and explains how these characters regress because of the regression found within dystopia. This depicts a parallel in the psychology of the character and the state of the dystopia in showing how one impacts the other.
