Hollan Southwick Blog Post 8

1.  What does The Giver suggest about the relationship between utopia and dystopia in terms of government?

2. Greene, Vivien.  American Art.  The University of Chicago Press, 2011.  Print.

3.   In this article, Vivien Greene argues that utopia is a concept that can be changed and shaped by authors.  She also poses the question of whether or not a true utopia can exist.  Due to the fact that utopia can have different definitions depending on a person, it is difficult to decide what exactly a utopia is.  Greene also talks about some aspects that go into utopia.  For example, she brings up religion, labor, history, and even art.

4.  This article can be used to open up different ideas about what a utopia can be.  The line between utopia and dystopia can quickly become blurred.

  1. Double check citation: “Utopia/Dystopia,” American Art Journal 25, no. 2 (Summer 2011)?
