Blog Post 4- Adriahna Rutland

1. Summary: "The Reaping" scene- this is the scene from the Hunger Games where Katniss volunteers as tribute instead of her little sister Prim.

2. Observation 1: there are a lot of close-ups on Effie
Observation 2: Effie is the only one in bright colors
Observation 3: the rest of the scene has a dull gray color to it
Observation 4: there are a lot of long shots to show the anxiety of the crowd
Observation 5: there are a lot of medium shots on Katniss to show her facial expressions
Observation 6: the crowd is absolutely silent except for Effie talking and Katniss' outbreak
Observation 7: there are a lot of camera angles from behind someone's head to make the viewer feel a part of the scene.
Observation 8: the camera is always angled down when facing the crowd.

3. I'm going to analyze the close-ups on Effie
Implication 1: there are a lot of close-ups on Effie because she is an important person
Implication 2: there are a lot of close-ups on her because she's wearing odd fashion
Implication 3: The close-ups are important because they show her every movement
Implication 4: there are a lot of close-ups on her because she;s from the capitol and this is the first time the viewer sees someone from the capitol
Implication 5: there are a lot of close-ups on her because she holds the fate of two of the children
Implication 6: there are a lot of closeups to show the detail in her outfit
Implication 7: there are a lot of close-ups on her because she's the main focus of the crowd

4. This scene is representative of Dystopia because it's the first time Katniss has to take on her government first-hand. For the rest of the movie she uses the anger she has toward the government to win the games.
