Victoria Lipinski Blog Post 5

Wolmark and Williams

1. binaries: male/female, dominance/weakness, hero/common man
2. strands: dominance, hierarchies, protagonist, hero
3. repetitions: feminist, sexual hierarchies

A binary that both writers analyze in their work is male and female. Williams’ opinion on this is a lot less formal than Wolmark’s. Wolmark has dedicated more elaborate and thought out ideas of feminism and how men and women are portrayed. William acknowledges the issue, but does not focus on it for the entire piece. Wolmark focuses on the sexual relations and social aspects of feminism, whereas Williams focuses on the power and dominance.
