I picked Wolmark’s and William’s articles to do the Method on.

3 or more overlaps in repetitions, strands, and binaries

• Binaries: man vs. woman, dominance vs weakness
• Repetitions:  Hierarchy, dominance, Political, feminism, contemporary, contradiction
• Strands: “women, feminist, gender, male, dominance”

Both works have the repetition of “dominance” but they utilize it in different ways. In Wolmark’s article, she talks about “dominant ideologies” and how males have dominated the science fiction area of popular fiction. She also talks about how narratives have the power to overthrow the “dominant ideologies of gender”. In Williams’ article, he talks about how Blade Runner shows a “disturbingly exacerbated” version of traditional dominance. He goes on to talk about how traditional dominance is shown through Deckard’s character in the scene of “forced sex undistinguishable from rape”. He states that Deckard’s character represents the brutal yet weak nature of “masculine dominance”. While Wolmark focuses on the dominant ideologies, Williams focuses more on traditional male dominance, how it’s seen throughout Blade Runner, and the brutal yet weak nature of male dominance.
