Furiosa is convinced by the group and by Max that their redemption and salvation is actually behind them back where they came from.

The camera shows Furiosa outflanked by the rest of the group behind her as Max confronts her head on. This is showing that the rest of the group is behind her but simultaneously they are surrounding her on all sides in order to change their course.

The camera focuses in on the war boy and only him when he says tis new plan sounds like hope. This is the whole idea behind this interaction between the group, that their hope is still alive even though the Green Place had died out their hope remains resilient.


Moylan and Williams hone in on the ideas of hope and humanity. The film does a similar analysis on humanity and hope.

The scene directly shows the effects of hope and indirectly identifies qualities of human nature in the process of the scene. As the wives, who are liberated slaves, express some of their first non-blind free thoughts in the name of hope the former mindless drone pins the final nail in when the scene focuses on him when he states their new plan sounds like hope.

In accordance with Moylan and Williams and the adventures of Mad Max, dystopia must pick at our sense of humanity by challenging what we think and showing us the power of hope in the hands of the weary.
